When completed, Saguaro Ranch will be a luxurious development of homesteads faithful to the desert environs; a Guest Ranch and professionally managed Horse Ranch will serve as the community’s social and recreational hubs. Saguaro Ranch residents and their guests will experience tranquility, awe-inspiring desert scenery with mountain views, as well as unsurpassed amenities and services at one of Arizona’s most progressive communities.

The first phase of construction, which began in fall of 2003, will yield 42 home sites. A total of 180 single-family home sites and 28 guest casitas, which will be situated at the community’s Guest Ranch are planned. From size to materials, color and design, the homesteads (as well as other on-site structures) will comply with the project’s guiding principal of “designing with nature,” resulting in a finished product that is eco-sensitive and of the finest quality. Since 80 percent of the 1,035 acre site will be preserved as open space, Saguaro Ranch residents will live in a stunning desert wilderness, where saguaro, mesquite, brittlebush and cholla flourish.

Homes will be built low to the ground in an effort to maximize views and celebrate the setting’s natural beauty and the region’s history. Buildings will be constructed with natural and authentic materials such as rammed earth, masonry or adobe, native rock, plaster and stucco to blend with the region’s existing Sonoran and old Arizona Ranch House architectural styles. Native American and historic building techniques and motifs will be incorporated into walls and architectural features. Also, in keeping with Saguaro Ranch’s “designing with nature” theme, home (and other building) exteriors will reflect the colors found in the desert landscape. Sun and sky hues may be minimally used as decorative touches on areas such as door and window frames. A variety of energy conservation techniques will be used.

Single family residences, designed for parcels of four to five acres, will afford dramatic views of the surrounding Tortolita Mountains, Santa Catalina Mountains, Santa Rita Mountains, and Tucson Mountains.

Saguaro Ranch’s large, centrally located Guest Ranch will accommodate family and friends visiting Saguaro Ranch residents with guest casitas (totaling the equivalent of approximately 60 hotel rooms). A wealth of amenities will also be available at this facility. These include a post office and general store; Ranch House with a living room, library, reading room, music room and boardroom; an organic farm; hiking, biking and bridle paths; swimming pools; spas; game courts for such sports as tennis, beach volleyball and bocce; Art Barn for arts and crafts; outdoor amphitheater; indoor theater; recording studio; and observatory. Saguaro Ranch will also feature a visiting artists and writers program. The program will bring regional as well as national and international artists, writers, musicians and craftspeople to the community to inspire and educate residents and their children.

A full-service Horse Ranch with stables, horse training facilities, a courtyard, loping tracks, porches, covered riding arena and bunkhouse for a staff of live-in ranch hands will accommodate horse enthusiasts. Amateur trail riding, dinner rides, and other equestrian-related activities will also be available.
